And he sent this letter today, The purpose of the letter is to demand an audit of the election results. He added that they should do this before approving any new loan for Pakistan.
Concerns over New Loan:
We have written a letter to the IMF and will send it today. He wrote, “Who will be responsible for the repayment of this loan? If the country gets a loan in this situation?” Khan said while talking to the media during the hearing in Adiala Jail.
The former prime minister cautioned that accepting the loan would worsen poverty. He further explains that as long as there is no investment in the country. The debts of Pakistan will continue to rise.
Khan’s announcement about the letter comes a day after PTI Senator Ali Zafar stated. He said that the party founder had chosen to write to the global lender. He was asking for an audit of the February 8 election. Before proceeding with talks on a new loan program for Islamabad.
Collaboration of IMF Despite Political Uncertainty:
However, whether Khan’s letter will achieve the desired outcome is uncertain. Because the IMF has indicated its readiness to collaborate with the new government, this shows the disregarding request of Imran Khan.
“I won’t talk about the politics happening right now,” said Julie Kozak from the IMF. She said this during a meeting after a former prime minister made a request. She also said they look forward to working with the new government. They are ready to ensure the economy of Pakistan stays good. And, everyone can be happy.
Kozak mentioned that the IMF gave Pakistan $1.9 billion under the Standby Arrangement. This money is helping the government. However, they are looking forward to making the money situation better. They want to help those who need it the most.”
Political Reaction to Khan’s Letter:
Ishaq Dar was in charge of the country’s money matters. He said that the letter wasn’t important. He said that if the person who started PTI wrote something against Pakistan, it was really bad. Writing just to benefit yourself is not good. Dar said this to reporters outside the Punjab Assembly.
