ISRO Launches INSAT-3DS Meteorological Satellite

INSAT-3DS Meteorological Satellite

India recently sent a special satellite into space to help to study the weather on Earth. It includes a series of satellites that monitor the climate of the Earth.

Geosynchronous Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F14) has launched this satellite through the Indian Space Research Organization. This satellite known as INSAT-3DS. It is also going to help scientists to learn more about the weather and climate of Earth.

The space agency explained that “This rocket GSLV-F14 successfully put the INSAT-3DS satellite in space.” They also told about the information about the rocket. They said that this rocket was 51.7 meters tall and 4 meters wide.

This rocket was first placed the satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit. Furthermore, they transfer it into a geosynchronous stationary orbit in space after placing it in an appropriate orbit. The weight of the INSAT-3DS satellite was 2,275 kilograms. Furthermore, the I-2k bus platform was used to build it.”

INSAT-3DS Successfully Deployed by GSLV-F14:

The India Meteorological Department started this satellite mission. The main aim of this mission is to help and observe the climate and environment of Earth. However, both ISRO and IMD started this program. This program can make the climate service of the country better. They have also sent three special Earth observation satellites previously. However, INSAT-3D started in 2013, INSAT-3DR started in September 2016, and INSAT-3DS recently launched.

Officials said that these efforts will make the weather and climate of India better and stronger. It will also help us to learn more and prepare for disasters in the future. The Union Minister of Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh, praised the hard work of ISRO. He said “ISRO keeps achieving success after success. I am proud to be working with them, especially as they launch the INSAT-3DS satellite. This will help us understand climate and weather better.”

Improve Weather Forecasting:

Ministry of Earth Sciences said in an interview. He said that various organizations will use the data of weather collected from INSAT-3DS. These organizations include the IMD, NCMRWF, IITM, NIOT, and INCOIS. These organizations will use these data to improve the research and service of weather.

Secretary of MoES, M Ravichandran, said, “This mission will make the prediction of climate and weather in India batter. It will also provide timely alerts and early warnings. It will also advise the public, especially to groups like fishermen and farmers.”

ISRO’s satellite has special equipment installed on it. It has a camera that takes pictures of the Earth and its surroundings. However, it has another device that helps study the atmosphere. It also has communication tools to receive data from devices on Earth. This tool helps them to monitor the conditions of the weather and ocean. Additionally, it also has a tool that helps in emergencies. This tool works by picking up signals from distress areas anywhere in the world. It is important to note that Indian industries played an important role in making this satellite called INSAT-3DS.

NSAT-3DS Mission:

Senior officials of ISRO mentioned that they launched this rocket with INSAT-3DS and GSLV-Mk2. This means that this rocket is suitable for the upcoming NISAR mission. Meanwhile, the NISAR mission is expected to launch in March this year.

The main aim of starting the GSLV-Mk2 mission is to communicate with satellites using a special third stage in space. GSLV-Mk2 is the same rocket that will carry out the $1.5 billion NISAR mission. But unfortunately, GSLV-Mk2 had some problems and only succeeded about 40% of the time. ISRO has fixed those issues and is now confident in its performance.
