Google offering 25 million euros to boost AI skills in Europe

Google's AI Project in Europe

Google introduced an AI project in Europe, offering €25 million for training. Hence, they will begin with €10 million to teach new skills. Moreover, they want to help people and groups across the continent do better with AI. However, this will give them the skills and tools they need in a world where AI is more important.

Partnerships for Progress

Google is asking groups to apply to help people who need training the most, like those in vulnerable communities. Hence they are teaming up with the UK-based non-profit, the Centre for Public Impact, for this effort.

However, Europe is trying hard to be better at AI worldwide. The European Union wants to change digitally and be more innovative. Moreover, the investment of Google helps in speed up progress toward a society that knows more about AI.

Europe’s AI Ambitions

The tech giant announced the funding on Monday. They’re inviting social enterprises and nonprofits to apply to help those who need training the most. Besides they will also help companies using AI to grow with “growth academies”. And will add more languages to their free online AI training courses.

The Concept for a Stronger Economy

Matt Brittin is the president of Google for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He said that Europe can lead in using AI. This will help to build a strong and fair economy and new opportunities for jobs. However, Google previously trained 12 million Europeans in digital skills since 2015. Moreover, they are starting the “AI Opportunity Initiative.” This initiative aims to help startups in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.”

Adrian Brown from the Center for Public Impact said, “AI can improve the world. But it can also worsen existing inequalities, especially in jobs and money. Moreover, this new program in Europe will give everyone access to AI. Knowing about AI will help, so no one left behind.”

Google’s Infrastructure Investment

Last month, Google announced it’s putting $1 billion into building a new data center near London.  The center will be in Waltham Cross, about 15 miles north of central London. Google bought the land for the center in 2020, and it covers 33 acres.

Google wants to help Europe get better at AI. However, this is part of their goal to make technology easier for everyone. As Europe deals with the digital world, big companies like Google need to work with local groups. Moreover, this helps to create a future that’s good for everyone.
